Re: Planning Board Appointment
Upcounty Action knows that the decisions this council makes about this appointment to fill the Planning Board vacancy are among the most important you will make this session. We are concerned that those who make decisions about the upper county personally know where our homes and businesses, landscapes and scenic views actually are. Current and future directions taken by the county will be decided at the sessions of this new board. Members in Upcounty ACTION are part of multiple committees and groups in the county, who have spent many hours in reviews of resumes and answers to questionnaires while participating in personal interviews. We, also, appreciate the opportunity to share our views with you and the other council members.
We believe that service on the Planning Board, while compensated modestly, also asks a lot of the appointees who need to do their homework in order to adequately serve this community and its many constituencies. Therefore, after much careful review we have as a group, selected one applicant as our choice. The upcoming decisions on several Master Plans as well as zoning revisions being considered and the most important issue of the Growth Policy are yet to be addressed this year. These most important decisions need to be made by those without personal agendas and we believe that Alan Bowser is the best choice in his repeated try for the Planning Board position. He has maintained interest and action in this community and demonstrates care and concern about the varied communities living here and should be unanimously selected.
We appreciate this opportunity to discuss this choice with the council and are hopeful that our decision will be given serious consideration.
